White Belt Yellow Tag

Yellow Belt signifies

Earth, from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the Tae Kwon-Do foundation is being laid

There are 24 patterns in Tae Kwon-Do

These represent the 24 hours in a day

In Korean, Pattern is Tul

A pattern is a set of fundamental movements, mainly defence and attack, which deal with imaginary opponents and test a student's progress.

We perform patterns to:

Learn new techniques
Improve those we already know
Develop sparring techniques
Improve the flexibility of movement
Master body shifting
and develop muscles, balance and breath control

We learn the meaning of patterns to gain inspiration from the events and people portrayed in the meanings.

Chon-Ji

Has 19 moves

Starts in a Parallel Ready Stance

(Narani Chunbi Sogi)

Chon-Ji

Literally means "the heaven and the earth".

It is, in the Orient, interpreted as the creation of the world" or the beginning of human history.

It is therefore the initial pattern played by the beginner.

The pattern consists of 2 similar parts - One to represent heaven and the other the earth.
